We all wonder, or worry, about what the future holds for us. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could know what’s coming ahead of time?

In this episode, we asked whether the Universe has a specific plan for each of us and, if so, whether there is any way to know what lies ahead. In other words, can we, or the Universe, actually predict our future?

The wisdom we received led to a rich conversation about why each of us is here in this life experience in the first place, and how much of our path is already set versus chosen by us along the way.

If you’ve ever wondered about destiny, free will, or whether your life is unfolding “as it should,” this episode offers a refreshing, clarifying perspective that may help you see your journey in a whole new way.

Mike Lannon

Have you ever wished you could predict the future?

Mary Obana

And can the universe predict the future?

Mike Lannon

That's what we wanted to know, so we asked.

Mary Obana

Welcome to this episode of What's the Universe Say About That? I'm Mary Obana, and along with my husband, Michael, we ask the universe for answers. You see, I'm blessed with this beautiful gift where I get quiet and I can connect with the loving guidance of the universe.

Mike Lannon

So today, you'll see and hear Mary connect directly to that divine guidance and hear the words of wisdom flow directly through her in response to questions about life and the challenges we all face at certain times.

Mary Obana

So welcome to our home.

Mike Lannon

And welcome to this now normal, but always amazing part of our daily lives. So sit back, get ready, and let's hear what the universe has to say about that.

Mary Obana

Let's do it.

Mike Lannon

Hey, everybody.

Mary Obana

Hello. Welcome back.

Mike Lannon

So a lot of times on these shows, we do deep wisdom and kind of profound insight. I had a kind of practical question I think a lot of people would ask, kind of witnessing or knowing what Mary does. You're able to channel messages.

Is the universe able to predict the future? That's kind of interesting. I think, you know, when anyone hears about getting divine wisdom or divine guidance, they probably think, can it answer questions that I have in the future?

It can predict my future. So I want to ask that question.

Mary Obana

Okay.

Mike Lannon

All right.

Mary Obana

All right.

Mike Lannon

Let's see where it goes.

Mary Obana

All right, let's do it. Here we go.

The Universe

It is such a human thing to wish to take away the uncertainty of the future. Humans have a way of wanting to know, wondering about what the future holds for them, wondering if that which they wish for will come to form. What each of you is meant to experience in this life.

The experiences are to help you grow, learn in the ways that you uniquely must for your soul's greatest and highest good, you see. There is a learning that is intended to occur here. The paths to that are not always predictable, you see.

Because each one of you has choice. Each one of you has free will. Each one of you has been given the ability to walk your own path, you see.

So while there are lessons you are to learn and that you will be guided, directed, encouraged, supported to receive those lessons, the specificity of the unique experiences are not predetermined. The idea of predicting a future is to suggest a specifically predetermined plan of which there is not a specific predetermined plan. Think of it as a general direction you have come to experience.

But the path is all your own because the path is based on decisions you make. Yes, you are guided. Yes, you are supported.

But this does not always mean that you take the guidance. This does not always mean that you receive and hear the guidance that is intended for you. Yes, the universe wants deeply for you to have the experience that is for your highest good.

And in this way, the universe guides you to that end. But it is your choice. It is because of your decisions that things occur, you see.

And the decisions of others that things occur. It is this confluence of different humans making different decisions, you see. So the answer is in general.

Yes, you are here to learn and grow and you are supported for that learning and growth. But the specificity of what it is that you experience is so much a function of the choices you make, you see.

Mike Lannon

That makes sense. It's very human to kind of want to know the specific answer. The question I have, if everyone is here for growth and learning specific lessons that we are here to learn in our own individual way or unique lessons that we're here for, is it possible that you can come here and live an entire life and not learn those lessons? Not grow?

The Universe

It is a beautiful question. And the answer is yes. It is possible that you do not experience the full growth that you intended to experience.

But this is why your soul gets another chance to do it, you see. Your life is not just that which you experience in the here and now. Your soul continues on.

You are able to grow again, you see. So, it is possible because of the choices that one makes that you do not realize the full growth that was intended for you or that you had hoped to experience. But every experience holds its own lessons.

Even that which is unexpected holds lessons, you see. You grow in many ways, and growth in and of itself is valuable. Even if you do not grow or experience or receive the explicit lessons that you had hoped to experience, you see.

Mike Lannon

Mm-hmm. Does everyone, this is very Buddhist, but does everyone come to learn the same lessons?

The Universe

Is the question, does every individual soul come for the same lessons as another individual soul, is this the question?

Mike Lannon

Yes, I know the manner may be different, but do we all, are we all on the same path towards the same lessons, the same learning?

The Universe

Within each life experience, there are different components of the life experience, the soul growth experience that you come for. So, in any one lifetime, no. An individual soul might have a different lesson, different ways to grow than another.

The overall ultimate goal is to expand. For when the souls expand, the universe expands.

Mike Lannon

That expansion is love?

The Universe

It is always love, you see. But it is also so much more. It is more because, you see, it is not only love.

The understanding of the purest form of love is what is in the non-physical. The non-physical is love. If that was the only goal, then you would have no need to come here.

You come here to experience all the different ways that the soul interacts with another form. All the highs, all the lows. It's a unique experience one soul has in the physical, earthly experience.

It is an experience you cannot get in the non-physical, you see. So, yes, love is always the way. But there is an understanding of love that comes through the different emotions, circumstances, the highs, the lows, the ebbs, the flows of the physical, earthly experience.

The ways you interact with another. The ways one affects the other. There are so many nuances, you see, to what is love.

So many emotions. This universe gives each soul the ability to feel the full emotional experience of the physical, you see. It is rich. It is unpredictable. It is beautiful in its own way. There is always great learning and understanding that comes from every experience.

Mike Lannon

Thank you. That took some turns that I didn't see coming. But it's really, it was really kind of, I don't know, profound that, it's the yin and the yang here, the physical, non-physical, that love as pure as it is in the non-physical, your soul kind of comes here to what they use the word understand love in different ways. It's really kind of hit home for me. Um, I think everyone can, you know, know that there's different types of love and they've had different experiences and sometimes in good times and sometimes in bad times, um, experiencing love in unexpected ways.

And, uh, that can only happen here.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

You know, this isn't just a, this isn't just a top of the school. You come here and, uh, you know, take, get the hard lessons of life and then go back home. It's the two really work together.

Mary Obana

Yeah. There's a richness that comes from that experience that dimensionalizes love in a way that you can't get. Yeah.

Mike Lannon

If it's just, you know, all there all the time.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

You've got to come here and almost put it to the test. You know, you know, that.

Mary Obana

It's contrast.

Mike Lannon

Yeah. It's contrast.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

You don't understand or you can't recognize.

Mary Obana

Light if you don't understand dark or you can't. Yeah.

Mike Lannon

You know, what's that, what's that expression? Uh, it's souls here. It's earth school or something like that.

You know.

Mary Obana

Souls having a physical experience.

Mike Lannon

Yeah. Um, and it's a necessary one. It's not just a, a temporary, uh, like I said, school, you know, and not in the good way.

Like school is hard. It's difficult. It's learning.

It's, it could be boring. It could be, you know, all those things. Um, it's actually like a beautiful other side of the coin.

Mary Obana

Mm. Yeah.

Mike Lannon

You know.

Mary Obana

Yeah. It's like, it's like it makes the law. It's a rich, it's like enriching.

Mike Lannon

And if expansion is the goal of the universe, it can't expand in the non-physical. It has to expand. This is where it gets tested and builds muscle and grows.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

And, uh, and so this is where expansion happens.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

It's interesting. Yeah.

Mary Obana

And what about the question of predictability? What did you...

Mike Lannon

It makes sense. It makes sense. You know, the, the, the human, I don't know, the simplistic mind says, oh, you know, connect to the universe and pick the stock market next week.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

And, uh, it's never been that for us.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

And that's not been our experience with it. It's been much more, and we hear this all the time is you have choice, you have choice, and everyone has choice. And, uh, so it is, I guess, specifically random in a way, but in a more general term, it's not.

Mary Obana

Well, I know that when we've been in situations where we have kind of reached to the universe for guidance in certain situations in our life, whether it's with us or with Kai or friends or whatever it is, what comes through is never, this is what's exactly going to happen. It's always wisdom that kind of puts the onus on us to heed that kind of like understand that wisdom, but make the decision. They never say, do this, do that, or this is what's going to happen.

It's always kind of imparting some wisdom and that wisdom always serves to guide us to the decision that's for our highest good, but it never says what to do.

Mike Lannon

You know, I, I have learned in my lifetime with, with, in business is it's not usually people making bad decisions. It's, it's setting up assumptions that are, you're thinking about something in a incorrect way, or you're setting assumptions that lead you to a decision.

Mary Obana

Right.

Mike Lannon

Most people I think are pretty good at decisions and there's always examples of, you know, bad decisions in the moment.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

Those are kind of quick.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

But the things that we're talking about is what should I do or where should I go? Those are, those are usually based on assumptions. And when we get guidance, it's more around where are you starting from before?

Mary Obana

Yeah, that's a good point.

Mike Lannon

It's not the decision itself.

Mary Obana

Yeah, that's true.

Mike Lannon

They let us make the decision.

Mary Obana

Right.

Mike Lannon

But they want us to go into it thinking.

Mary Obana

Thinking about it in a certain way.

Mike Lannon

In the right way. Yeah.

Mary Obana

That's actually really...

Mike Lannon

Yeah.

Mary Obana

It's a good point.

Mike Lannon

Yeah.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

So, all right. It always is.

Mary Obana

Yeah. It always is.

Mike Lannon

Well, I hope you thought it was interesting.

Mary Obana

Exactly. I hope it.

Mike Lannon

We did.

Mary Obana

I know.

Mike Lannon

Yeah. So, sorry, we're not predicting the future for you.

Mary Obana

Some people are like, uh.

Mike Lannon

But we can help make decisions.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

Yeah. The university can help make decisions.

Mary Obana

And always, and help guide us to the decision that's for our highest good.

Mike Lannon

That's the main thing. If you listen.

Mary Obana

Then you're guided for your highest good. Because that does, that, that guidance is always for your highest good. Yeah.

So, it's like it's always for, you know.

Mike Lannon

And I will say this. I think everyone, myself included. When you make the decision.

It always, you're more invested in it. As opposed to being told what to do.

Mary Obana

That's true.

Mike Lannon

And.

Mary Obana

That's true.

Mike Lannon

So, if you can be guided to help you make the decision. And then you make the decision.

Mary Obana

Yeah.

Mike Lannon

That, a deeper commitment comes with it.

Mary Obana

No, that's true. And it also gives you more agency over your life. Otherwise, it's kind of like, all right.

It doesn't matter what I do. It's going to happen anyways.

Mike Lannon

Right.

Mary Obana

So, I think it puts the onus back on us too.

Mike Lannon

We have choices.

Mary Obana

We do. Always have choices.

Mike Lannon

And how's this for a segue? And you have the choice to support this program. By referring it to other folks.

And subscribing and sharing and all that kind of stuff. So, we hope it's helpful for you. And we enjoy doing it.

So, we hope to keep doing it.

Mary Obana

And we will.

Mike Lannon

And we will.

Mary Obana

Yeah. So, thanks. Thanks for joining us.

See you next time.

Mike Lannon

Bye-bye.

Mary Obana

Bye.
